Description: From its very inception, the Zionist movement had discontents in the Jewish community. Some were anti-Zionists, and some considered themselves Zionists, some secular, some religious. Coming from very different perspectives, they were opposed to the idea of a Jewish state. Regardless how these discontents labeled themselves, they each had ideas that need to be considered today – and maybe this is the moment to which they were speaking. These sessions are in preparation for a discussion with Rabbi David Cooper and Peter Beinart on May 4th Session 1 – April 21, 6:30-8pm PT Jewish responses to the failure of the Emancipation of the Jews in the 19th century.
